Best Saunas Near Porto Airport

Whether you have a long layover, an early morning arrival, or a late-night flight, there's a sauna near Porto Airport that can turn dead time into recovery time. Porto's airport is unusually close to the city centre — just 15 minutes by metro — which means you're not limited to airport-adjacent options. You have real choices.
Here's what's available, from the obvious pick right next to the airport to five excellent options in central Porto.
El Spa at Melia Porto — €25
The obvious first choice, and a genuinely good one. El Spa is at the Melia Porto Aeroporto hotel, a short taxi ride from the terminal. For €25, you get a Finnish sauna, Turkish bath, indoor and outdoor pools, hydromassage, and access to a 24-hour gym.
The real advantage is the hours. El Spa stays open until 22:00 every day — later than any other spa in Porto. Landing at 19:00 with nothing to do until a late dinner? This is the answer. On weekdays, it opens at 07:00, so early arrivals are covered too. Weekends start at 08:00.
The facilities are hotel-standard rather than boutique, but at €25 with those hours and that location, it's hard to argue with the value. If your layover is three hours or more and you don't want to venture into the city, El Spa is the straightforward choice.
- Price: €25
- Location: Near Porto Airport (Melia Porto Aeroporto hotel)
- Hours: Mon–Fri 07:00–22:00, Sat–Sun 08:00–22:00
- Best for: Layovers, late arrivals, early departures, anyone staying near the airport
- Getting there: 5-minute taxi from the airport terminal, roughly €5–7
Central Porto Options
Porto Airport is remarkably close to the city centre. The metro Red Line runs directly from Aeroporto station to Alameda (where you can transfer to the Green Line) in about 7 minutes. From there, you can reach Marques de Pombal, Saldanha, or Avenida da Liberdade in under 15 minutes total. A taxi or Bolt covers the same distance in 10 to 20 minutes depending on traffic, for around €10 to €15.
If you have two hours or more before you need to be back at the airport, these central venues are all realistic options.
Core Collective — €25
A 15-minute taxi ride from the airport puts you at Core Collective near Marques de Pombal. Their Fire & Ice concept pairs infrared sauna with whole-body cryotherapy — you go from deep infrared warmth to sub-zero temperatures in the same session. It's designed for recovery, which makes it particularly well-suited for tired travelers.
The session is efficient: you can be in, recovered, and out within 60 to 90 minutes. Weekday hours run 07:30 to 19:30, but watch the weekend schedule — Saturdays and Sundays are 09:30 to 12:30 only.
- Price: €25
- Location: Marques de Pombal (Central)
- Hours: Mon–Fri 07:30–19:30, Sat–Sun 09:30–12:30
- Best for: Quick recovery sessions, athletes, anyone who wants maximum impact in minimum time
BluSpa Jupiter Porto — €25
For the same €25 as El Spa, BluSpa near Saldanha gives you a more polished experience: a marine-inspired water circuit with Finnish sauna, steam bath, jacuzzi, heated indoor pool, and relaxation rooms. The design feels like a €50 spa, and the Saldanha location means you're in the heart of central Porto — surrounded by restaurants, shops, and metro connections.
If you're arriving in Porto with a few hours to spare before hotel check-in, BluSpa is an excellent way to freshen up. Open 10:00 to 20:00 daily.
- Price: €25
- Location: Saldanha (Central)
- Hours: 10:00–20:00 daily
- Best for: Travelers who want a complete spa circuit in a central location
Vidnova — €15
The cheapest sauna in Porto, and a smart pick if you just want a quick Finnish sauna session without the full spa production. Vidnova charges €15 for access to their Finnish sauna near Avenida da Liberdade. It's no-frills by design — a clean, simple sauna that does exactly what it promises.
If budget matters or you only have an hour to spare, Vidnova is the most efficient option. Open 10:00 to 20:00 daily.
- Price: €15
- Location: Avenida da Liberdade (Central)
- Hours: 10:00–20:00 daily
- Best for: Budget travelers, quick sessions, anyone who just wants a straightforward Finnish sauna
The Hot Cold Club — €28
If you're serious about sauna and have a bit more time, The Hot Cold Club in Principe Real is worth the trip. Two 88 degree Finnish saunas, four ice baths at varying temperatures, a cafe, and a sun terrace. It's the best contrast therapy facility in Porto and one of the best in Southern Europe.
The community atmosphere is a bonus — you might end up chatting with local regulars between rounds. It's a 20-minute taxi from the airport, or about 25 minutes by metro (Red Line to Alameda, Green Line to Rato, then a short walk). Open 08:30 to 17:30 daily — note the earlier closing time compared to other venues.
- Price: €28
- Location: Principe Real (Central)
- Hours: 08:30–17:30 daily
- Best for: Contrast therapy enthusiasts, anyone with 2+ hours to spare who wants the best sauna experience near the airport
Getting from the Airport
Metro: Take the Red Line from Aeroporto station. Change at Alameda for the Green Line (toward Cais do Sodre) to reach Marques de Pombal, Avenida, or Rato. Total journey time to central Porto: 15 to 20 minutes. A single ticket costs €1.65 (plus €0.50 for a reusable Viva Viagem card if you don't have one).
Taxi or Bolt: Expect €10 to €15 to central Porto, depending on traffic and exact destination. The ride takes 10 to 20 minutes. Bolt (the local ride-hailing app) is usually a few euros cheaper than a taxi from the rank.
To El Spa specifically: A taxi from the airport terminal to Melia Porto Aeroporto takes about 5 minutes and costs €5 to €7. You can also walk, but it's along a highway — not recommended.
Tips for Airport Travelers
Pack your swimsuit in your carry-on. Every sauna in Porto requires one, and you won't want to dig through checked luggage. A small quick-dry swimsuit takes up almost no space.
Book El Spa in advance if you have a tight window. Walk-ins are usually fine on weekdays, but weekends can get busy. A quick call or email the day before guarantees your spot.
Allow 45 minutes of buffer. Whatever time you think you need to get back to the airport, add 45 minutes. Porto traffic is unpredictable, metro connections aren't instant, and rushing from a sauna to a departure gate is the opposite of recovery.
Store luggage at the airport. Porto Airport has luggage storage in the arrivals hall. Drop your bags, metro into the city for a sauna, and come back refreshed. Rates are around €5 to €10 per bag depending on size and duration.
Late flights: El Spa is open until 22:00, later than any other option. If your flight is at midnight or later, you can have a full spa session and still make it to the terminal in time.
